Another caption competition…..

Time for another caption competition.  The photograph shows Baroness Bottomley of Nettlestone, Baroness Miller of Hendon, and yours truly at the University of Hull degree ceremony in January at which Baroness Miller received her MA in Legislative Studies.    What could we be saying?

I shall think of some appropriate prize for the most amusing caption.

  1. Liam says:

Baroness Miller: So I says to ‘er, “What will your husband think, you bein’ down ‘ere at this sort of time of night. You ought to get on home! You know what she said …?”

Baroness Bottomley: Hold on a minute, Lord Norton’s dropped off again.

    Lord Norton: Zzzzz zzz *snore*

Meh, I’ll try to think up a funnier one.

  2. Liam says:

    Here’s a better one:

Lord Norton: Ommmmmmmm omm ommm omomom

Baroness Miller: ‘Cor, d’you reckon Lord Norton really can contact the other side?

Baroness Bottomley: Oh yes, last time he channelled someone while making a speech, all their Lordships agreed it was the most eloquent, beautifully stirring speech Lord Norton has ever made, possibly even in the entire history of the House.

Baroness Bottomley (cont.): It didn’t exactly go to plan though, he called for the abolition of the Lords, unilateral nuclear disarmament, re-nationalisation of industry and reforming something called ‘Clause IV’. Turns out he was aiming for Winston Churchill but ended up with Michael Foot.

  3. Jana says:

Congratulations! You’ve done wonderfully well! I’m sure I couldn’t have done it! – It’s bad enough putting up with him droning on in the House, I can’t imagine what he’s like given a lecture theatre of his own!

  4. David Rostron says:

This is a difficult one, you have two charming ladies with you, how can we make fun of then. Boris or Ken would have been a lot easier.

Baroness Miller ”How strange, I received my MA and a Recipe book for Cakes”
Baroness Bottomley ”That’s to assist Lord Norton in his unofficial post as Hull University’s Official cake tester”

  5. Ashley Roden-Bow says:

Miller: I thought we’d all agreed that gold trim and coloured gowns were “a bit much”. Now I feel underdressed… It’s showing off, it really is!

  6. David Rostron says:

Baroness Bottomley “So that’s two blues supporting Chelsea and one red supporting Manchester United for the league championship”

  7. ladytizzy says:

VB: Really? I have to hug hoodies now?

  8. Tory Boy says:

Have you heard that one about the Lord and two Lady’s!
